The Screen’s Incubator, a part of the ECAM (Madrid’s Film and Audiovisual School), has signed an agreement with Focus CoPro’, a Program launched in 2018 by the Short Film Corner (Cannes). Thanks to this agreement, one of the five feature film projects from The Incubator’s edition III will be participating in Focus CoPro’ 2020. The selected project will give a pitch in Cannes in order to present it to an international audience and pursue co-production agreements. The goal of Focus CoPro´ is to promote the international production and co-production of promising feature film debuts, and for this reason it is one of the most important international meetings targeting emerging directors in Cannes.
This recent alliance now joins the previously signed agreements with TIFF Filmmaker Lab (Toronto Int. Film Festival), Torino Film Lab Meeting Event, Rotterdam Lab (IFFR) and EAVE (European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs). In addition, The Incubator also features the collaboration of the San Sebastian Film Festival through the Meet Them! initiative and the Spanish-French co-production forum Small is Biútiful (Espagnolas in Paris), which promotes exchanges and synergies between the French and Spanish film industries. It also has the support of Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) through its Program for the Internationalization of Spanish Culture (PICE) in the Visitors Category.
The call to submit feature films for The Incubator’s edition III is open
The Incubator is opening the feature film submission period for its Edition III via its website. The submission period for this edition will be from 1 to 27 October, 2019. This was announced today in the Sala Equis in Madrid, at a meeting with the press and people interested in the program, and where some of the mentors who will be participating in this edition III were also presented, such as PABLO BERGER (director and screenwriter), NEUS BALLÚS (director and screenwriter), SANDRA TAPIA (executive producer at Arcadia Motion Pictures), MARISA F. ARMENTEROS (producer at The Mediapro Studio), EMMA LUSTRES (executive producer at Vaca Films) and NACHO VIGALONDO (director and screenwriter), just a few of those responsible for mentoring in production, screenwriting and directing during the five months the program lasts.
The rules and regulations of the call are the same as in previous editions; projects by emerging producers residing in Spain can be submitted. The projects must have a confirmed director and the film must be their first, second or third feature film. Feature projects of any genre and with a first draft of the screenplay with dialogues can be submitted.
Each project will receive the amount of 10,000 euros in development aid and each team (producer, director and screenwriter) will receive a travel bag to cover their trips to Madrid in case they reside in other autonomous communities.
